Here is some important information regarding your visit:

Location:
The new sifting facility is located at Hamasu’ot Lookout, Martin Buber St, Jerusalem – at the junction with Yizhaq HaNadiv St.

Free parking is available at Hadassah Lempel St. Hamasu’ot Lookout is right above the beginning of the street.

Important Note: The Temple Mount Sifting Project has moved and is no longer in our former facility at Emek Zurim National Park, which continues to operate as an archaeological sifting facility for soil from other sites (not the Temple Mount).

Arrival by car: There is free parking in Hadassah Lampel St. (When travelling via Yizhaq HaNadiv St going East, keep right and take the exit signposted the Mt of Olives. Then take the first right, into Hadassah Lampel St., signposted the Mormon University, Beit Orot and Emek Zurim) and park at the beginning of the street. After parking, return by foot to the start of Hadassah Lampel St., turn right & then right again at the T-junction. The sifting site is to your right, signposted “HaMasu’ot Lookout”. Altogether a 2-minute walk from the car to the sifting site entrance.

By bus: “Bet Sefer leChinuch/Buber” on bus 48א, “Bet Orot/Lempel”, on bus 48, or “Har HaTsofim Tunnel/Martin Buber”, on bus 84. These buses can be caught from the Light Railway station at Ammunition Hill (Giv’at HaTachmoshet).

About the activity:
The sifting work does not require physical exertion. Participants may get slightly wet during the wet sifting.
The activity includes an introductory lecture and presentation or short movie, followed by instruction on the sifting method. After approximately 90 minutes of sifting, the guide provides a survey of key artifacts found by the group. Altogether, the activity lasts around two hours.

Please note:

  • Participants should arrive 15 minutes before reservation time. We cannot guarantee that participants who arrive late will be able to take part in the full activity.
  • Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Rest rooms, picnic tables and drinking water are available at the site. The site is paved and shaded and accessible to baby strollers.
  • The registration fee will be refunded on cancellation, up to a week before the booked sifting date.
